Xaltar was made up of Rob Martinez(lead vocals/bass/guitar)
Scott Chapin(guitars/drums and drum programs/synth guitar/harmonica)
and Father Scott Mansfield(guitars/mandolin)Rob and Scott were
introduced by Father Scott in March of 2005 when they got together
for a jam, and Xaltar was born.  The band stays true to it's
Catholic faith, writing songs about Our Lady, The Blessed
Trinity, The Sacrament of Confession and other subjects that are
uniquely Catholic.  It's Xaltar's hope that their music,
which spans any and all styles, will bring you closer to God,
and to His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.  God Bless You!

rob martinez
Rob Martinez hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he grew up playing music with his family. "Singing and playing music is very important to me, as my parents and siblings are all musicians." Rob grew up hearing traditional Hispanic folk music in New Mexico, and at an early age was singing and playing guitar with his Dad. Having older siblings, he also grew up listening to the Beatles, and folk singer songwriters like Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan. Eventually Rob picked up the electric bass after seeing Paul McCartney in concert. "I love the sound and power of the bass. It is cool because it is rhythmic and melodic." After a 5 year stint in Los Angeles, where Rob played with various pop rock bands and learned the craft of songwriting, he returned to New Mexico to earn his M.A. in history. Today, Rob plays bass and sings for Xaltar. "I met Scott Chapin through Father Scott Mansfield, and we just hit it off, we wanted to write and record inspiring music that expressed our Catholic faith. I've known Father Scott since junior high school and we have played music together off and on for so many years". Rob loves collecting basses and guitars and plays Waterstone 4 string and 12 string basses, and is a Waterstone endorser.  See his Waterstone page HERE

scott chapin
Scott has been a fixture in radio and television across the
U.S. for over 30 years, but has always been involved in music.
In the 70s and 80's, Scott served as a production manager for
radio giants like KSTP, WEZB, KFRC, WIOD and others.  At the
same time he was producing music for the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota
Northstars, CBS RadioRadio, and numerous jingles and video post-scores,
including Scott's best selling novelty CD "Yatta Yatta Yatta".  It's
single, "Jamaican Bobsled" received extensive national airplay.
In the 90's, Scott left radio and moved to a TV voiceover career, but
remained close to music, working with 60's rock icon Mitch Ryder, as
well as another novelty CD "Poseur of Polka", and his own band, Dead
Hippie.  Eleven years ago Jesus called, and Scott answered, returning
to his Catholic Faith after 25 years. Father Scott introduced Scott
to Rob Martinez in March of 2005, and Xaltar was born.

father scott mansfield
Fr Scott Mansfield was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. After graduating high school, the father took a job in the field of radio broadcasting, but after ten years he could no longer ignore what he feels was a certain call from Christ to serve God's people as a priest in the Roman Catholic Church. Fr Scott was ordained to the priesthood on June 17, 2000, and serves the Church in a dual capacity, as Pastor of St John Vianney Church in Rio Rancho, NM, and in residence for St Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho, NM.  Fr Scott met Rob Martinez in 1977. The two "pimply faced" teenagers discovered they shared a common like for the Beatles and immediately became friends, a friendship that endures to this day. Father wrote the hauntingly beautiful "Pray a Prayer" that closes the Xaltar CD. Visit Father's Parish by CLICKING HERE
